The nath, also called nathni, nathuni or nak ki nath, is a key bridal piece in many regions. Every nath gold design here is original, so you can show it to your jeweller as a reference. Pair it with a gold maang tikka design, or see small studs on our gold nose pin design page.

Bridal Nath Design Gold with Chain

A wedding gold nath design is usually a large ring with a chain that hooks into the hair. The chain carries most of the weight, so the nose stays comfortable through the rituals.

How to Choose a Nath That Fits

  • Size: Small daily naths are about 1 to 1.5 cm wide. Bridal naths are 3 to 5 cm, and pahadi naths can be wider.
  • Pierced or clip: Most naths need a piercing, but many shops make a press clip version.
  • Chain: Above 4 to 5 g, a chain to the hair helps carry the weight.
TypeUsual weight
Small daily nathiya0.5 to 2 g
Festive nath2 to 4 g
Bridal nath with chain5 to 10 g
Pahadi nath10 to 15 g

What to Check When Buying a Nath

Check the BIS hallmark and the 6-digit HUID. On a small nath the stamp may be on the clasp or chain hook. The price is grams times the rate for that karat on the day you buy, with making charges and 3% GST added. Pearls and stones are charged separately.

Wipe the nath with a soft cloth after use and keep it flat in a box so the chain does not tangle. For a full bridal look see gold bajuband and hathphool designs.

Questions buyers ask

What is a simple gold nath design for daily use?

A thin hoop or small nathiya of 0.5 to 1.5 g with a smooth wire is best for daily wear. It does not need a chain. Choose a hook lock or screw lock so it stays in place.

How much does a bridal nath design gold weigh?

Most bridal naths with a chain weigh 5 to 10 g. Big pahadi naths can be 10 to 15 g. Stones and pearls add to the total, so ask for net gold weight.

Can I wear a nath without a nose piercing?

Yes, many jewellers make a press clip version of a nath. It is fine for a few hours but can feel tight. For long ceremonies a pierced nath with a chain is more secure.

What is the difference between a nath and a besar?

A nath is usually a ring that circles the nostril, often with a chain. A besar is a smaller hook style piece with a drop. Names change from region to region.

Is a 2 gram gold nath design strong enough?

Yes, a 2 g nath is strong for its size if the wire is not too thin. Ask the karigar to use a slightly thicker wire on the curve. Avoid hollow work in a nath.

Where can I find the gold mor nath design for my wedding?

Any good jeweller can make a mor nath to order. Show the design and ask for the weight, karat, stone type and chain length. Allow two to three weeks for custom work.
